5. January 14th
Forum Theatre workshop and info night.
What is forum theatre?
It is a way of understanding social justice issues through improv theatre and dialogue. It is an amazing tool for empowerment in communities across the globe- starting from remote and impoverished towns in Brazil.
This will be a night for groups on campus who are working for social justice to tell others what they are doing, and then a workshop in forum theatre (or theatre of liberation) will take place.
Refreshments too.
This is a unique opportunity. Get involved. If you are part of a club or group and want to be involved, please let me know.
6- 8:30 in room 6-307 (double check for possible location changes)
6. This Friday in Cafe Voltaire we are hosting another open mic night. Come down and talk to Eric if you are interested in getting up on stage. This is a great chance for new performers to gain some stage experience. As always, this is a free show starting at 8:00, so come down and perform, or just listen!
7. Here is a great opportunity for you to try cross-country skiing if you haven't tried it before. Skifest is happening out at Otway Nordic Centre - a very short drive from most locations in PG - this Sunday, January 11th @
12 noon. You can get a free pass to the trails and a free lesson (If you don't have skis, there is a rental shop - equipment is very reasonable - approx. $10 for skis, poles and boots - $7 for kids).
8. January 15th-
Tar Sands film night
7pm
6-213
Hosted by Northern Studies.
9. January 21st is Green Day. Join us in the wintergarden to talk about priorities and meet the awesome Go Beyond people and see how their project is progressing.
Also- for a fun and participatory activity- we will be counting the single occupancy vehicles that are climbing up the hill to skool.
Would you like to help?
The more people, the shorter the shifts and the easier in the snow it will make it for everyone. We will be flipping over numbers to show drivers how many SOV are driving to skool and that we are watching them......
Let me know if you're interested in helping out.
10. January 23rd The time is flexible: how about 1pm? Make a suggestion if that doesn't work.
Workshop on Peak Oil and the Alberta Tar Sands.
Want to know more?
Want to share something you know?
Converge with others about the pressing issues of the tar sands and the scary truths of peak oil.
Maybe from the depressing and overwhelming load we can think of some direct action plan to clean it up or shut it down!
This will be a workshop for those of you who know a lot or a little- everyone is welcome- and is welcome to participate and speak.
